Innovation

Identifying and foster innovative approaches and practices across the entire cancer pathway, from earlier cancer identification to diagnosis, care and treatment, is vital for supporting improved outcomes and experience.

North Central London Cancer Alliance finds, supports and evaluates a range of innovations through grants and in partnership with national or local innovators or industry partners that contribute to improved outcomes for patients and novel solutions for our staff.

We have a track record of testing and adopting clinical and technological breakthroughs, products and practices that are significantly different from what is already in place across the health system.

We also provide strategic direction to the North Central London cancer system and work to enable wider innovation across our sector.

Early diagnosis

Early diagnosis is the consistent strategic priority of our innovation programme.

Working in partnership with our local Health Innovation Network, UCLPartners, we have brought together a dedicated team which uses industry and cancer care expertise to identify, implement and evaluate innovations to improve early diagnosis, enhance patient experience and tackle health inequalities.

Projects we have supported range from funding dedicated staff to develop new streamlined patient pathways and embed novel software solutions into clinical and administrative workflows, to supporting the deployment of digital and artificial intelligence solutions.

Digital innovation

We have launched a two-year NCL Cancer Digital Fund to support our trusts to implement practical, scalable digital improvements in cancer pathways focused on patient tracking and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
