North Central London Cancer Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of its 2024/25 Innovation Fund Open Call. It is focused on improving patient experience across cancer services in North Central London.
Results from the 2023 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (NCPES) revealed that North Central London Cancer Alliance performed 17th out of 21 Cancer Alliances in how patients reported their experience of care. NCPES consists of 59 questions and is themed into 14 sections, (including, but not limited to, support from your GP practice, finding out you had cancer, hospital care, and living with and beyond cancer) and is designed to not only provide patients the opportunity to safely voice their experiences, but also drive local improvement projects.
A key strategic priority for the Alliance is to increase its performance in the survey to reach the top rankings nationally by 2028. It is believed that the investment in large-scale innovative solutions through the delivery of this Fund will go a long way towards achieving this goal.
The Fund will be open to NCL innovators across primary, secondary and tertiary care organisations. To ensure we deliver the biggest impact for our patients, we want to see collaborative applications that evidence partnership across NCL organisations, including with the voluntary, community, and social enterprise sector.
The Cancer Alliance welcomes a wide range of innovation proposals within this Fund, from digital/technology solutions to new models of care. All applications must evidence how they meet with one, or more, of the below prioritised themes:
- Communication
- Access and navigation
- Coordination of care
UCLPartners is supporting the Cancer Alliance’s innovation workstream of NCL CA and will contribute to the selection and management of the awardees for the 2024/25 Innovation Fund.
If you have any questions about making an application to the Fund, please contact Lily Mackay, Innovation Project Manager, – lily.mackay1@nhs.net – who can direct you to the appropriate contact person for each organisation.
